Classic to Quirky Carolingian:
Rhythm in Rapid Writing

Carolingian

Two Days

If you'd like more experience writing very small, would like an easy introduction to pointed pen, want to explore text blocks for books or how to modernize a hand, well, it's all here! Using Carolingian as our basic bookhand, we will go smaller and smaller, writing large blocks of text to look at rythmn, speed and the effect of other variables on a page. We'll gradually make our lettering more modern, individual and playful, even using a pointed pen.     Along the way we will look at how to "shape" text for book pages and rough out a book project for those who want to. Those who prefer can spend more time on writing smaller or developing their own "quirky" style if ready. This class is a lot of fun with many principles and techniques to practice - and there is so much to learn from seeing what others do as well as from your own experiences. Whether you come to play or to put in serious work you'll gain greater facility with pen and alphabet.

Other Options: One-Day class is possible, skip the book part, but move from classic to modern and maybe slightly quirky as we move smaller and smaller and look at speed and rhythm on a page of text. Two-and-a-half or three days would be even more fun, could really get into the teeny-tiny writing, get lots of rhythm going, get individual styles really working and books planned......
