Skin and Bones

Explore technologies and techniques in fiber-work and how to use them to make your lettering into fabulous
3-d artwork. There are ways to cast your letters in paper pulp, use string, wires, and other "media" to "write" on paper or fabric, new mediums that can soak into your fibers to make rock-hard and weather-impervious shapes from hand-made paper - with writing possible both before and after. You can use various flexible substrates to allow your paper, castings, or fabric to take on graceful, organic shapes and stay where you want them. You can use glowing silk fibers on reed or wire.........

Come spend a week exploring - you can bring papers you've already written on or your favorite writing tools, and come prepared to let your imagination soar as you experience new ways of building calligraphic structures or sculptural pieces, who knows where it may lead your personal muse as you look in brand-new directions.

There will be a materials fee, classes limited to 14 participants
